Bardiya National park is located in the far west of Nepal and was established as a park in 1988. It covers an area of 968km2 and is the largest undisturbed park in the terai region of Nepal.With Banke national park it covers 2231 sq.km of Tiger conservation unit. In Karnali river flowing through this park , there are many gharials, crocodiles, reptiles, mammals and 125 recorded species of fish. There are more than 60 wild elephants, 30 rhinocerous, 405 species of birds and many royal bengal tigers in the area. It is of a close distance to Nepalgunj. Chisapani, lies in the banks of Karnali river and is serene with green hills surrounding the area. The Karnali river flowing nearby is also home to rare cold water dolphins.
