Poon Hill Trekking is a short and relatively easy trek into the Annapurna region. This trek gives you the experience of feeling the Himalayan Panorama along with getting close to the locals. The gateway of Poon Hill trek is Pokhara. It takes about one hour drive to Nayapul to Pokhara. You have different starting and finishing point for this trek. Either start from Nayapul and finish in Ghandruk or start from Nayapul and finish at Kimche. This hike can be considered as an independent hike. There is no chance of getting lost on the way, or not getting the place to stay and eat. You also get to explore the couple of warm villages along the way. Ghorepani and Ghandruk are two of the largest Gurung settlements in the Annapurna region.

Important Tips while going for Poon hill trekking.
- Bring enough local currency. Since you are trekking in the mountain region, you will not find any card machine there. So it will be required to carry enough cash with you.
- Wi-Fi is available in some tea houses; they will charge some amount for that.
- The higher you go in the mountains, the snacks and water becomes expensive.
- Regarding medical help, doctors and small hospitals can be found in Ghandruk, Ghorepani and Ulleri.
- Tea houses have electric power and they will charge you some amount to use it.
- Bring a set of sleeping bag with you. Tea houses may have blankets but in case just to be warmer as up in the mountain it is too cold.

- Shade hat or cap
- Sunglasses
- Water purifier tablets
- 3-4 shirts, quick drying hiking shorts
- Two pairs of trekking pants
- 4 pairs of liner warm socks
- Waterproof hiking/trekking boots
- Passport and extra passport photos at least 4 copies.
- Pocket Knife
- Toiletry kit and make sure you include toilet paper stored in a plastic bag, hand wipes and liquid hand sanitizer, towel, soap etc.
You can choose to either carry your own goods or hire a porter. They will charge you some amount of money for their work. You also need to get the trekking permits to trek in this area. So, make sure you have one. Poon Hill trekking is categorized under easy trek and it is the short and best trek too.
